Having a healthy mouth is a key foundation for a healthy body, but it sometimes can be hard to know if your mouth is healthy.
Let’s start with your gum tissue. Healthy gums are not red and do not bleed, are not painful and sit snugly against the tooth. Healthy gums are also not smooth, but are stippled, or kind of pebbly. You can’t actually see the bone below the gum tissue but when that bone dissolves, you may see gaps between the teeth at the gumline. While bad mouth odors can have other causes, unhealthy gums are a main reason that people experience bad tastes or bad breath.
